Bargaining- January 29th & 30th, 2014
Your Bargaining Team met with the employer to continue bargaining on January 29th and 30th, 2014. It was our first round of bargaining under our new leadership, however, this has always been a team effort so it was a very smooth transition.
It was a successful round of bargaining and we were able to sign off on one package. Although this is a positive fact, it has been a very tough and slow round of negotiations and we see this continuing in our future rounds.
Please continue to support your Team by wearing your tags, maintaining a positive outlook while in the workplace and participating in events and actions.
Our next round of bargaining is scheduled for February 11th, 12th & 13th, 2014 in Fredericton.

Bargaining- February 11th, 12th & 13th, 2014
The bargaining team met with the employer to continue bargaining on February 11th, 12th and 13th. This round has been shortened as Tuesday morning was used for the two sides to meet before coming together at the table.
It has been a difficult round of bargaining due to the nature of the Articles we are discussing. We are keeping the rights of our members at the forefront, as we do not believe in concession bargaining. We will continue to work on these Articles with the Employer during the next round of Bargaining.
Please continue to support your Team by wearing your tags, maintaining a positive outlook while in the workplace and participating in events and actions.
Our next round of bargaining is scheduled for March 11th, 12th & 14th, 2014 in Fredericton.

Our last round of bargaining, April 1rst, 2nd and 3rd, was shortened due to some inclement weather causing delays for safe arrivals of some of the Negotiating Team Members but we worked diligently to make up our time. We were not successful in signing off any packages but did engage in conversation amongst the team and the employer. We struggled with some issues that the team hold close to their heart for the better of the membership and will continue this journey during our next round at month's end. This round is very trying and the team requires your full positive support when called upon.

Negotiation Update – October 16, 2014
Since our last update, we have had four rounds of Negotiations; June 3-5, Sept 16-18, Sept 29-Oct 1 and Oct 14-16. Due to the confidential nature of the negotiating process it is hard to disclose much information without breaching confidentiality. We want you, the members, to know that your Team has the best interests of all of the members at the forefront during this process.
We continue to struggle with some specific articles that lead to intense, heated and lengthy debates on both sides of the table. Your team remains unified and solid, working cooperatively to attain the best language possible for the members. The positive aspect is that we are still actively engaged in dialogue with the Employer and each other.
In late September we signed off on a package that had approximately 12 articles in it. This is the first package we have signed since May. This goes to show how difficult each round is and the importance that the Team places on making improvements for the membership as a whole. The Team foresees future rounds as becoming more intense due to the monetary nature of the discussions.
Although we have seen a change in government, the Employer’s Team has remained the same so we continue to move forward. All packages previously signed off, remain signed off and do not have to be re-negotiated.
Your Team will be continuing to meet with the Employer with 3 days scheduled for Negotiations in November and another 3 days in December.
Your Team continues to work tirelessly on your behalf to maintain and gain improvements to benefits for the members. Your continued support is imperative to show the solidarity of this Local.

Negotiation Update - November 18, 19 and 20, 2014
The Employer is still
waiting for a mandate from the new government which slows our process somewhat.
The first ½ day was spent on open discussions with both sides about frameworks
for some processes. Both parties
continue to work respectively and co-operatively which is always a good sign. We use our days wisely to accomplish as much
as possible in the time allotted. We are
coming into the big issues such as monies, hours, pensions, etc. so the
upcoming dates will engage much discussion!
The team continues to work on behalf of the entire union to retain and advance what we have. We thank you for your continual support!
