Exchange of Bargaining Proposals
The June 10th meeting was postponed now and the Bargaining Team will be at the bargaining table to exchange proposals with the employer on June 20th, 2013 in Fredericton.
Bargaining- August 27th, 28th & 29th, 2013
The bargaining team met with the employer to begin active bargaining on August 27th, 28th & 29th. There was a positive beginning to the process and we were able to sign-off on 22 articles, mostly what we consider “housekeeping” items (minor adjustments in contract language). The tone of this round of bargaining was much more positive than in past history.
Your full support for your negotiating team will assist in the success of our next Collective Agreement. Your Negotiation Team urges you to participate in all ongoing campaigns and especially wearing your tags. We hope you all take part in your community Labour Day events and we wish you a happy and safe long Labour Day weekend.
Our next round of bargaining is scheduled for September 17th – 19th in Fredericton.

Bargaining - September 17th, 18th & 19th
These 3 days of bargaining were challenging in that we accomplished very little and we were not able to sign off on any articles. We have stalled on a fundamental issue for this Local which was Local representation and recognition of our CUPE 2745 structure. The employer also tabled some cessionary items. We are hopeful that our next few days of bargaining on October 8th, 9th & 10th will be more proactive and we can more this process forward in a more positive manner.

Bargaining - October 31st
October 31st, 2013
It is a sad day at the negotiation table as there seems to have been interference in our negotiation process by senior management at EECD. We were stunned to hear from the employer team that articles “agreed
to” in our current package were to be deferred and possibly opened back up for discussion. Your negotiating team felt that this was an inappropriate process to follow and unfortunately sets the tone for future negotiations and trust in the process.
This shows a lack of RESPECT for the negotiation team representing our members, so ultimately, you as a member of CUPE Local 2745. Your continued support is appreciated and we will be ramping up our efforts to have our voices heard and respected and to negotiate a FAIR COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT for all our members.
You need to think about what you are willing to do to defend and keep hard fought for benefits and to continue our efforts in improving working conditions and wages in this round of bargaining.
Unfortunately, Marie-Claude Blais, our new Education Minister has not been able to find time in her schedule to meet with us, even for introductions. It is common practice to meet a new minister to introduce your leadership and convey issues and concerns of our members and attempt to build a relationship of collaboration. A meeting was requested with the Minister on September 24th and we are still waiting.
Remember this is your collective agreement defining your rights and benefits and you need to do your part to show support to your bargaining team and to ultimately gain respect and value for Educational
Support Staff in the New Brunswick Education system. New Brunswick Schools Work
Because We Do! and let us collectively say WE ARE NOT WORTH-LESS!
Continue to wear your tags, post your signs and participate in any collective actions that your leadership and negotiation team deem necessary in forwarding our mandate at the bargaining
table.
Our next round of bargaining is scheduled for December 3-5 in Fredericton.
Bargaining - December 3rd, 4th & 5th
Your Bargaining Team met with the employer to continue bargaining on December 3rd, 4th and 5th. Thank you for supporting your Negotiating Team by participating in our MLA Monday. This had a positive impact on our negotiations. All articles were returned to the table as they were agreed to previously.
We were successful in signing off on one package which included 5 Articles from the Collective Agreement.
There was much discussion and debate on these articles prior to reaching an agreement.
Our next round of bargaining is scheduled for January 29th & 30th, 2014 in Fredericton.
